Delta Hotels will continue the expansion of its resort property portfolio with the October opening of the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre in Kelowna, British Columbia. The resort combines 259 guest rooms in two towers, along with 37 vacation timeshare and 23 vacation condominium units, and 71 private residence units.
The Delta Grand Okanagan Resort is located on more than 7 acres of prime lakefront property in the heart of British Columbia's burgeoning Okanagan Valley wine region, which is a popular destination for wine lovers and golfers alike. The hotel property is one of the largest in the region, and features a full service restaurant, the Grand Bay Café; an expansive health spa and fitness centre; an indoor/outdoor pool with sundeck; and 25,000 square feet of conference space and an outdoor lakeview feature area for private functions and weddings.
"The Delta Grand Okanagan Resort is Delta's seventh property in British Columbia," explained Hank Stackhouse, President and COO of Delta Hotels. "This market is a key area of expansion for Delta and its customers. We believe this incredible resort property will be an exciting addition to the Delta brand." The property, which was built in 1992 and expanded in 1999, is currently known as the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre. The resort will receive more than $7 million in capital refurbishments over the next three years to upgrade the hotel and amenities.
"Kelowna has been identified as a strategic market for Delta's expansion effort," said Gordon Johnson, Regional Vice President, B.C. Region, Delta Hotels. "B.C. is a thriving travel market." Delta will take possession of the hotel starting in late August, with the hotel transitioning to a fully Delta-managed hotel in early October. The hotel will remain open during this transition period, continuing as an independent hotel and guests will be able to take full advantage of the resort's services and amenities throughout the summer season. "This is a great opportunity for Delta to become the premier travel destination in one of Canada's hottest travel districts," said Johnson. "We can't wait to open the doors and welcome guests to Delta in the Okanagan Valley."

Offering a spectacular golf experience in Western Canada, the Fred Couples Signature Course is the culmination of a ten-year partnership between legendary golf course designer Gene Bates and one of the tour’s most popular players - Freddy 'Boom Boom' Couples. The centerpiece of our Okanagan Valley community is set amid 250 acres of The Rise’s finest golfing real estate.
Five tees on each hole and breathtaking views of the Okanagan Valley wilderness; truly a masterpiece in every respect. The Fred Couples Signature Course at The Rise was designed to give golfers an adventure they’ll be talking about long after the day is done.
The 7,000-yard track is situated at 1,000 feet of elevation and boasts stunning views of both the north and south arms of Okanagan Lake. Couples, the chief designer on the course, worked closely with golf course architect Gene Bates, with whom he has designed almost 20 courses.
The dramatic elevation drops throughout the course make this a picturesque course but definitely not a walking course. Twelve of the 18 holes offer lake vistas and numerous elevated tees offer panoramic views of the Okanagan Valley.
Each hole provides a minimum of five tee box locations allowing players of all ability levels to tee it up at the appropriate yardage and challenge their game without feeling overwhelmed. However, even if you are a scratch golfer, be forewarned that playing from the tips might serve more as a handicappadder than a career low round.
Though stunning, this course has bite. Many fairways are tree lined snagging errant shots. If you are just off the fairway and unlucky enough to catch some of the natural grasses with your shot, it will make it nearly impossible to either find your ball or have a playable lie.
